Mr. Calvit Mr. Calvit

Calvit Hodge began his life in the Virgin Islands and St. Thomas where he was exposed to the many cultural movements of the Islands. When Calvit moved to Miami, FL in 1996, he spent most of his time playing Optimist sports such as baseball, basketball, and football, he also developed an ear for music while learning to play the trombone. Each of these activities is what Calvit refers to as hobbies, his real passion and what he calls “his true gift” is dance. He was first influenced in dance by greats such as James Brown, Michael Jackson and MC Hammer. He spent a lot of time studying their movements and learning their style and began to imitate their dancing.

As an adolescent, Calvit mustered the courage to audition for a Local group of dancers called “Live in Color” (founded by Zedric Bembry), and history was born. Calvit studied various styles of dance with the group such as Hip Hop, Popping & Locking, Street Dance, and the Lindy Hop. He has a special passion for a recently born style called Urban Funk, and has worked hard to master the style over the years. As a teenager, Calvit began his music video career with Master P and Lil Romeo, he later worked with MC Hammer, Trick Daddy, Uncle Luke, and various other artists in Reggaeton and International styles of music and dance. He is currently dancing with Brooke Hogan on her promotional tour and creating heart thumping dances for Dancing Plus, Hip Hop students that continue to “take it all” at competitions year after year.  Calvit is yet another  member of the Dancing Plus Family who is truly an asset.
